POST 7: Who is a person on your field that you admire?
Hello everyone, I gonna talk about Violeta Parra. she was a singer, songwriter of popular chilean music, specifically focus on folklore, plastic artist and poet. She was born 4th October 1917 in San Carlos, Chile, daughter of countrywoman and her dad was a music teacher. Together with her sisters and brothers start to sing in bars, circus and restaurants.
In 1932 her family moved to Santiago, where Violeta assist to 'Escuela Normal', a few years she know her first husband and they had her first son Isabell in 1941.
With the time Violeta began to become more famous in Santiago along with her sister Hilda, both were singing on bars or restaurants of the capital like Franklin, Rondizzoni and sometimes in pergola of flowers.
Since 1952 the artist travel a lot of sites of Chile expanding her folklore music. In 1953 her works more famous come to light and were transmitted via radio along all the country. Her Internationally career started when she travel to Polonia for a festival of music, then go to Soviet Union and finally she stay reside in France for two years. on different events Violeta show and expose her works, paints, Burlap artwork and gave concerts. In 1959 record "casamiento de negros" and finally in 1966 she record her last album that include her famous song "Gracias a la vida". Violeta dead on February 5th 1967 in La Reina, Santiago of Chile.
I think that Violeta was a very influent person, who with limites resources was able leave the county and be recognized around the word, In my opinion her works are so impressive and her music talk about different and deep topics with a nice melody. My favorite song of Violeta Parra is 'Run run se fue pal norte'. What's yours?
